It is set in glorious gardens with large leafy trees that provide natural shade and endless opportunities for adventure and fun. Our large rotunda also offers shelter from the changing seasons, so that children can continue to play outdoors all year round.
Outdoor play provides the foundation of learning. At Burnside Early Learning Centre we have sandpits, mud kitchens, an in-ground water pump, chickens, and sensory and herb/vegetable gardens that encourage children to investigate the environment around them.
Collaboration between children, families and educators sets the groundwork of learning. Our program supports many different cultural/religious beliefs, interests and stages of development from 6 weeks to 6 years.
During the year, children will have the opportunity to participate in excursions and additional activities like music, soccer, meeting baby farm animals, Chinese dancing dragons, fire brigade, local police and visits to the local library and parks. We believe in continually reflecting on our practices, procedures and programs to improve our service and offering.
Our centre and families support many community foundations, such as The Fred Hollows Foundation, Starlight Foundation, Red Nose Day, Indigenous Literacy Program and many more. We also take great pride in networking with local libraries, childcare centres and schools.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains and pays respect to Elders past and present. We recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land. We acknowledge that they are of continuing importance to the Kaurna people living today.
